POMCA

Logo Identity · 2016 · Logo Symbol or Pictorial Mark

I designed a series of pictorial logo symbols for POMCA, Colombia's institution for hydrographic basin planning and management. The challenge was creating marks that could work both as standalone symbols and as part of their brand identity.

Each symbol draws from Colombia's unique biodiversity—from the endangered Spectacled bear, South America's only surviving native bear species, to the distinctive flora of the Andean páramos. These high-altitude ecosystems, found between 3,000-4,300 meters above sea level, represent some of the world's most critical water sources.

The pictorial approach allows each mark to communicate POMCA's environmental mission immediately and emotionally, using imagery that connects with Colombia's natural heritage while supporting their conservation and land planning initiatives.
